The past few weeks since announcing our return to New Orleans have been a whirlwind. We’ve felt an incredible outpouring of love and affirmation, rekindled old relationships, and started new ones. In the midst of all this, we’ve created social content, written four newsletters, worked two jobs, parented two toddlers and a newborn, and managed the beautiful chaos that comes with it all. Life hasn’t slowed down, but in between diaper changes, dishwashing, and refereeing toddler disputes, we’ve carved out pockets of time—mostly at 4:30 a.m.—to seek the Lord about when and how we’re supposed to return to New Orleans.

For the past six weeks, Naomi and I have lived on Zillow and Indeed, searching for a home and a job. We’ve saved several houses but haven’t yet felt clear direction on where in the city God wants us. I recently made it to the final interview for a communications role at Tulane University but wasn’t selected. We’re still knocking on doors and waiting for God to open the right ones. I’ll be honest—it’s exhausting. Good exhausting, but exhausting nonetheless. Weekend naps are non-negotiable at this point, and we’ve had to step up our time and energy management to keep everything moving forward. But we’re in it for the long haul and ready for whatever comes next.

One of the most important lessons I’ve learned from our first attempt in New Orleans is that prayer is the foundation of every God-given assignment. As Dallas Willard once said, “There are some things so important that God has to be involved—that is why we pray.” Building Christ’s church is one of those things. Ashamedly, prayer wasn’t our priority in 2020, and I won’t make that mistake again. This time, we are committed to praying first and praying consistently. I want to invite you to join us in this season of prayer. Will you talk to God on our behalf? Let’s see what happens when a community comes together and routinely, persistently asks God to move.

Join Us in Prayer

For the next 21 days, we’ll be covering these requests in prayer daily. If you’d like to join us, click the button below to add our prayer practice to your calendar or reply to this email with “I’ll ask God,” and I’ll add you to our Reminders list (iPhone users only).

What We’re Asking For

1. A Job:
We’re believing for a combined income of $100k to support our family and ministry. I’m qualified for roles in communications, project management, digital marketing, and leadership. If you know of opportunities, you can access my resume [here].

2. A Neighborhood:
We want to lay down roots and serve a neighborhood effectively. We feel God may be positioning us in the Bywater area of New Orleans (see image), but no doors have opened to our knocks. Pray for wisdom and direction as we make this decision.

3. A Home:
With three kids under five and a French bulldog, we’re asking for a space that can accommodate our family and ministry. Specifically, we’re looking for a 4-bedroom, 2-bathroom home with a fenced-in backyard, located within walking or biking distance of shops and parks. Our home will be a space for worship, teaching, and community—a revolving door where people feel welcome. Pray that an ideal home would be remarkably affordable with an honest and integrous landlord.

4. Moving Expenses – $8,312.74:
This is the exact amount we’ve budgeted to cover everything from packing supplies to gas and security deposits. Pray for provision and financial discipline to meet this goal.

5. A 2022 Toyota 4Runner (with Third Row):
Our current Toyota Corolla is maxed out on space. We’re asking for a durable, reliable vehicle that can handle New Orleans roads, tow and store what we need, and grow with our family. And yes, we’re aiming for something that’s not a minivan. 😊Pray that a reliable and spacious vehicle would be made available to us.

Luke 11:11-13
“Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”

We’re energized by what God is orchestrating in this next season. Thank you for walking alongside us, praying with us, and believing for God’s best. Together, let’s ask God and trust Him to move in ways only He can.
