November was packed full of new experiences, lessons, and blessings. I kicked off the month by committing to posting on social media every day as a personal challenge. Let me tell you—it’s been a fascinating mental and emotional journey. Sharing vulnerable thoughts, ideas, and revelations isn’t easy, and insecurity can quickly rob you of the confidence to be authentic. Despite missing two days, I found the practice incredibly beneficial for my creativity and discipline. Alongside this, we’ve enjoyed writing and publishing this newsletter every Monday, sharing openly about my battle with depression and why we’re moving back to New Orleans.

This month, I had the honor of being a guest on one of my favorite podcasts with someone I deeply admire. If you haven’t checked it out yet, you can watch or listen here. On a more practical note, I finally went to the dentist and had two teeth filled—such a relief! I also got some quality time with my son during a daddy date, playing wiffle ball and hitting golf balls at the driving range. I applied to the Strategic Launch Network, a church-planting organization focused on resourcing churches for long-term impact, and we’re excited to share that the first part of our application has been approved! I have an interview with one of their coaches on Tuesday. Naomi and I have also been going live on Instagram every Monday at 8 PM CST, which has been a fun way to connect with people and foster meaningful conversations.

Additionally, I’ve been participating in The Steadfast Way, a men’s mentorship cohort led by Wade Joye. It’s been one of the most refreshing parts of my week, and if you’re a man in leadership, I can’t recommend it enough. Let me know if you’re interested in joining! I’ve also been sharpening my preaching skills through a weekly course with another young preacher. We’ve been using John Piper’s Preaching Course on YouTube, and it’s been a game-changer for perspective and preparation—highly recommend it to any aspiring preacher. We also launched a prayer initiative, asking God for clarity and provision as we prepare for our move to New Orleans. If you’d like to join us in prayer, click below to get involved.

Our Thanksgiving break was wonderfully relaxing. We stayed home, watched Despicable Me 4 (not great), ate homemade chicken tacos (amazing), and played Lorcana, our new obsession. I closed out the month with a night of prayer at a campsite—just me, a fire, a tent, and uninterrupted time with God. It’s a spiritual practice I’ve been doing for a couple of years now, inspired by Jesus’ example of solitude, and it’s always refreshing for my soul.

This month taught me the importance of focusing on output over outcome. It’s easy to get caught up in results, but November reminded me to trust the process and stay consistent in what I’m called to do.

Looking Ahead to December

In December, I’m excited to finalize our relationship with Strategic Launch Network, continue applying for jobs in New Orleans, and set goals for 2025 with Naomi during a planning retreat at The Summit (more on that soon). Of course, we’re also looking forward to celebrating the holidays. If you’d like to receive a holiday card from us, let us know below!

Lastly, as we prepare for our move and ministry in New Orleans, we’ve created an Amazon list of home goods to help us get ready. These are practical items that will help us create a welcoming home and serve the community more effectively. We’re so grateful for your generosity—thank you for any gifts or donations you send our way.

Thank you for walking alongside us in this season. We can’t wait to see what God has in store as we close out 2024 and step into the new year!
